Bringing Ultrasound to Uganda with ITW (Part 3)

Saturday, May 28th:  We are at Heathrow Airport.  So far things are not going so well.  For some reason almost all of the software I downloaded at home no longer seems to work.  From last year’s experience when setting up the first ITW clinic, I learned that it is best to download as many tools as possible before arriving in Uganda.  Trying to download software and software tools at dial up speeds, is very painful and frequently downright impossible.  Ironically, I tested all of these tools just before I left, and all seemed to work.  I guess software must always be frustrating or it wouldn’t be software!  I hope to figure this problem before we board the plane, but something tells me that these wishes will be thwarted by the software gods who love to torture mere mortals.

It is now later in the day and we are soon to board.  We had a pretty nice dinner and I am trying not to dwell too much on the software failure.  I guess what is most frustrating is that I could not even get Skype or AIM to function that well, making it challenging to talk to Carol and the kids.  How is it possible to be gone only one day and already miss everyone so much?
