Soft Tissue Characterization, Part I, focuses on MSK image optimization with a review of imaging technologies, transducer frequencies, and techniques on how to recognize and minimize artifacts specific to MSK imaging. Attention is given to the differences between the normal and abnormal sonographic appearance of MSK structures. Part II of Soft Tissue Characterization demonstrates the soft tissue and bone interface with sonographic depictions of abnormalities. Common soft tissue pathologies are discussed as well as abnormal vascular presentations.
