Following a discussion of the mechanical load of the hip, Greg Wilde, MD provides a review of bony, ligamentous, and muscle anatomy. The second module focuses on the patient position, transducer selection, and the scanning techniques used to evaluate the structure of the hip. Four ScanLabs provide instruction in the scanning protocols of the lateral, posterior, and anterior hip and thigh as well as sports hernias and evaluation of the medial hip and thigh. Two modules in this hip series cover various acute and chronic pathologies that commonly occur in the hip and surrounding structures. The final module presents anatomy, technique, and pathology associated with neonatal hip ultrasound.
